Investment in Infrastructure

In 2016, Minhang invested 3.483 billion yuan in infrastructure, up 16.7 percent from last year and taking up 7.1 percent of the overall social fixed asset investment.


Road Construction

Altogether 53 key city projects are underway this year, including the south section 2 of Jiading-Minhang Elevated Rod, Hongmei Road S Elevated Road, Beiqing Road Elevated Road, Zhuguang Road Tunnel, Dalu ship route treatment, Dazhi River west gate, Metro Line 5 south extension and renovation, Metro Line 8 (Phase 3) and Metro Line 15. Infrastructure projects at Pujin Road S. and Kunyang Road are taking shape. Huajiang Road, Jihe Road Bridge and Chunshen Road have been completed.  


Urban Transport

By the end of 2016, there are 231 bus routes in Minhang, including 80 regional routes and 151 others that run through the district. The bus route intensity is 1.785 kilometers per square kilometer. Three regional routes will be added in this year and 15 routes will be adjusted. Fourteen towns, sub-districts and Xinzhuang Industrial Zone have been spread with public bike stations. Altogether 686 bike stations have been set up with 93,000 bike cards issued and 20,000 bikes put to use.





Transport Hub

Hongqiao Transport Hub is a mega project approved by the State Council and a major infrastructure project in the 11th Five-Year Plan. It integrates long-distance aviation, Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, Yangtze River Delta region inter-city trains, high-speed buses, subways and ground public transportation.

Hongqiao International Airport borders with Minhang and is only 12 kilometers away from the district government. The Minhang District Government is 40 minutes’ drive from Pudong International Airport.

Metro Transport

Eight Metro Lines totaling 64.4 kilometers have passed Minhang. They are Metro Lines 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 22 (Jinshan Line) with 38 stations in the district. Metro Line 5 south extension, Line 8 (Phase 3) and Line 15 are under construction with 18 stations and a 25-kilometer length.

In 2016, Line 5 ran 140,600 times, an increase of 0.3 percent from last year. Altogether 49.885 million people took the line, 6.1 percent more than last year. Daily flow was 136,600 people. The peak flow came on April 1, with 181,000 people riding the line.



G60, G50 and G2 expressways, along with No. 318, 320 National Highways, run through Minhang, leading to provinces and cities to the south and north of Shanghai.


Environmental Protection

The 6th round of three-year environmental protection plan has been pushed forward. By the end of 2016, all the 85 projects are underway while 35 percent of them have been completed. The direct pollutant sifting drainage system has been installed. The renovation project of the Minwu Wharf is finished with the part on the land. The project to turn food waste into resources or harmless garbage is taking shape. The outer ring ecological treatment on the Meilong section has been started. Forests of 7.33 hectares have been planted. The air-cleaning project has been boosted and the clean energy replacement is basically done in the district. In the river treatment project, the comprehensive treatment for the 4.17-square-kilometer southern bank of Suzhou Creek has been achieved.   




Waterway Treatment

In 2016, crackdown on illegal buildings on the riverbank, 720,000 square meters in area, has been completed. Ecological waterway construction on seven rivers including Hongwei and Dazhai rivers has been finished. Thirty spots were conducted with dredging, dam-demolishing or bridge building. A dredging project to clean up 100 kilometers of medium to small rivers and the other to treat heavily polluted 15-kilometer rivers have been completed. The treatment for the 20 kilometers of small to medium rivers are steadily pushed forward to improve the carrying capacity for the regional water resources and environment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    


Urban Afforestation

By the end 2016, Minhang has 8,701 hectares of green lands, 6,843 hectares of forests, 52 hectares of vertical greening and 23 parks, with a green coverage of 16 percent. Park and green land area per person was 9.4 square meters. The construction for 161 hectares of various greening lands and 70.2 hectares of forests has been completed. The first phase of Pujiang Suburban Park is under construction. The greening project on 40,000 square meters of vertical greening and 10.8 kilometers of Humin Road fitness path has been completed. Renovations on Huacao Park and Minhang Park as well as on the 60,000 square meters of green lands have been accomplished.
