Approved by Shanghai Municipal Government in August 2005, the park with a planned area of 1788 hectares focuses on information industry, biological and pharmaceutical industries and new material development, and others. Currently, many international enterprises have settled in the park, such as Otis, NEC and so on.
In 2006, Xinzhuang Industrial Park attracted 33 projects operated by foreign companies with a total investment of US$819 million. In addition, it also signed contracts with foreign enterprises worth of US$266 million.
By the end of 2006, 276 companies had settled in the park and the export sales had reached to US$776 million.
