Minhang Wins Highest Award in Shanghai Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest


It is the season of spring as well as youth in March, as the students from Minhang District and the young talents of scientific and technological innovation in the whole city gathered at Shanghai Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest, and at the grand event of science and technology full of young vitality, the students from Minhang District presented outstanding performance in the new era of scientific and technological innovation.

In the contest Minhang District recommended 479 items of achievements in adolescents science and technology innovation, 110 items of adolescents science and technology creativity, 10 science fiction pictures, and 4 items of achievements in science education and innovation made by scientific and technological instructors, and finally won 524 prizes in various groups.

In the most competitive group of Achievements of Adolescents Scientific and Technological Innovation, Qibao High School once again topped other primary and middle schools in the city with 51 first prizes, living up to the leading school in the education of scientific and technological innovation in Minhang and even in Shanghai. In the 6 groups, the district totaled 14 projects to compete at the 32nd National Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest to be held in Hangzhou in August on behalf of Shanghai.

In addition, Cui Ruoyan, a student at Qibao High School, won the “award of chairman of association for science and technology”, the top prize in the contest, which was designed to encourage the outstanding adolescents loving science and having the courage in innovation and is given to the most innovative, scientific and practical project in the contest.

Recycling, modifying and applying the ABS in waste plastic in the 3D printing

The task is mainly studying various methods of purification and modification of ABS waste and applying the modified ABS in the 3D printing. The purified ABS is processed with homogeneous-phase doping vario-property in solution. The tensile strength still keeps good mechanical property, with the elongation at break increased by 28%. At the same time, in the microstructure, the island-shaped two phase structure of the ABS is restored to some extent. If it is applied in the 3D printing, the printing process features good molding and controllability.

Where have the mobile phones gone – survey and analysis of the flow directions of Shanghai residents’ waste mobile phones and intention for recycling    

The task based on interviews and other researches indicates that Shanghai’s industry and mechanism for scale cycling of waste mobile phones are not mature enough and yet to be improved. The task puts forward comprehensive suggestions and schemes at the individual, social and government and state levels, with the schemes including using them in programs for public good, talkback terminals, the leased devices at scenic spots and the industrial equipment at the repair shops, setting up the recycling industry chain, stepping up promotion, developing APP, setting dumping sites at the communities and so on, having made contributions to developing the ecology and environment-friendly society with green information environment.

On using cellulase to improve the effect of ajuga pantantha in healing injuries

The cellulase can destroy cell wall, and ajuga pantantha has certain curative effect for external injuries but the efficacy is low. With the two elements combined, the characteristics of the cellulase can make effective ingredients of ajuga pantantha released more quickly, which can accelerate the release of effectiveness and promote the healing of the wounds.

Enrichment and analysis of the insect enteric bacteria that can degrade plastic

The efficient plastic decomposing bacteria are obtained by cultivating the enteric bacteria of flour weevil. It is found that the enrichment results in plastic decomposition, with the highest decomposition rate at 4.8%. In the future the insect intestinal anaerobic bacteria can be used to treat plastic pollution. The research provides valuable results for the treatment of white pollution.

New method of measuring air density

The task puts forward a new method of directly measuring the air density, in which the air density is calculated on the basis of the definition formula of material density. The method is simple, portable, timesaving and accurate in operation. With a wide range of application, the method can measure the air density in different environmental conditions such as severe air pollution and the environment where the molar mass of the air cannot be generated from the empirical formula, and it can also be popularized as teaching demonstration.

Research in limiting crowd density at scenic spots based on visitors’ state of motion

The research in limiting density was designed to provide the basis for measure and control the capacity of a scenic spot. The factors affecting the limiting density mainly include the human factor (human body size, and state of motion) and space factor (flatness, and smoothness). We can roughly estimate the maximum density that an area can bear on the basis of the state of motion (standing still, moving slowly, walking as usual or running rapidly) needed by the visitors moving in a certain area, and then based on the data the maximum bearing capacity of the scenic spot can be calculated.

With the analysis of the heavy metal elements in the atmospheric dust fall at the Zijing Nanyuan Community near Wujing Industrial Park, it is found that in the area the Pb element in the atmospheric dust mainly comes from the vehicle exhaust surrounding the community, and the Ni, Cu, Zn and other heavy metal elements originate from the exhaust gas and smoke emitted by the enterprises in Wujing Industrial Park in burning coal.

Research in the impact of nano-Ag on the physiological activity and cell structure of paramecium

Through the MTT colorimetric method, scanning and transmission electron microscopy technique, the research is in the impact of the 50 nm silver nanoparticles with different concentration and particle size in the shape of triangle plate on the cell structure and activity of paramecium. It is confirmed that the paramecium cells are sensitive to the toxicity of the 50 nm silver nanoparticles in the shape of triangle plate. The Ultrastructural display shows that with the concentration of nano-silver particles increasing, the trichocyst under the surface of the cells ejects in large amounts in the situations of low concentration and short term, and with the effect of accumulation with high concentration and long term, the shape of the trichocyst takes on significant transformation; the ridge-like structure in the mitochondrial inner membrane collapses; the large nuclei fuse; the trichocyst structure tends toward autophagic collapse, and inside cytoplasm there appear autophagic bubble structures at different autophagy stages. It is presumed that the nano-silver entering the paramecium cells will cause disorder of other organelles and abnormal morphology and function of cells by causing damage to the mitochondria and nuclei.

Adjustable forearm device for opening and shutting doors


The device consists of two parts: the forearm resting part and the fixing part. Wherein the fixing part can fix the device on the door handle and make adjustments and get fixed in accordance with the size and shape of the door handle. It is easy to operate, and can adapt to different door handles in installation.

Unlocking System Based on Mobile Phone Bluetooth Signals

The research has basically realized such function.

In addition, in this contest, Minhang District Youth Activity Center won the Shanghai "excellent organization award", and will be recommended for the selection in the "excellent organization award" at the national adolescents science and technology innovation contest.

In implementing the Minhang District “Morning Star of Science and Technology” program, Minhang District Youth Activity Center has integrated the quality resources, innovated in the operation mechanism, and continued to explore the contents, forms, methods and platforms for the activities of youth scientific and technological innovation and education in the district. In the last five years, the center has remained at the leading level in the municipal and even national adolescents science and technology innovation contests.
